Pipe Bomb Found In Home, Nearby Residents Evacuated

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - Longmont residents are back in their homes Friday morning after an evening evacuation.

Thursday evening, while investigating recent burglaries in the area, police learned of possible explosives in a home on the 1200 block of Red Mountain Drive.

Michael Wason, 24, was arrested without incident outside the home.

Eighteen nearby homes were evacuated as a safety precaution at approximately 4 p.m.

The Boulder County Bomb Squad was called in to investigate and search the home. A robot removed a pipe bomb and several other explosives.

Neighbors were allowed to return home early Friday morning.

Wason faces charges of possession of a dangerous weapon and explosive device.
