Pilot Identified In Garfield County Plane Crash

CARBONDALE, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - The pilot of a small plane that flipped and crashed between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale has been identified. Benoit Dela-Vaiffiere was flying the plane when it crashed, injuring him and a passenger.

The plane crashed Sunday morning in a field near the Rio Grande Trail along Highway 82 not far from the Glenwood Springs Airport.

Dela-Vaiffiere and a passenger were treated for their injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

The RFTA/Rio Grande Trail will be closed in the vicinity of the crash to preserve the scene. People wishing to use the trail from Glenwood to Carbondale are encouraged to use the alternative path along County Road 109 from the Hardwick Bridge.
