Manning On Tennessee Controversy: 'I Think It's Sad Some People Don't Understand The Truth'

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - During his retirement news conference Peyton Manning answered a question from a reporter about a controversy from his past.

A new lawsuit that alleges the University of Tennessee has violated Title IX policies emerged earlier this year, and it mentions a sexual harassment complaint that involved Manning.

"I think it is sad that some people don't understand the truth and the facts," Manning said in response to the question about the case. "I did not do what has been alleged and I'm not interested in re-litigating something that happened when I was 19 year old."

Manning said he wanted to focus on the positive during what he said is "a joyous day" for him and not dwell on the situation.

"Like Forrest Gump said 'That's all I have to say about that,'" he said.
