Person Injured After Window In Denver Skyscraper Shatters

DENVER (CBS4) – A person suffered minor injuries Friday morning after a window was blown out of a high-rise building in downtown Denver.

According to Denver police, the strong wind may be responsible for shattering a window in the 26-story Colorado State Bank building located near 16th and Broadway.

Glass fell from the 18th or 19th floor of the building and struck a person walking below. The person was treated for minor cuts by paramedics.

Jonathan Garcia, who works in the building, said a crew was working on the building as the glass fell.

"When he was replacing it the wind came, a lot of wind," Garcia said. "That's when it broke and fell and he started bleeding. But I thought he fall, so I came really fast down here to see if everything was okay."

Police are investigating to see if wind was indeed the cause of the window breaking. They said so far there are no indications the incident was anything criminal.

The window has been boarded up. Fire officials say there is no further threat to people walking near the building.
