Permanent Fix To Iliff's Water Woes Won't Come Until Next Year

ILIFF, Colo. (CBS4)- A small town that went without water for 22 days earlier this year may not get a permanent solution to the water problems until next year.

Iliff is a small town with a population of 250, about 200 miles northeast of Denver, near Sterling in Logan County. A water main break in June under the South Platte River had forced crews to turn off the water to the entire town.

An above ground pipe system has been installed to supply the town with water.

The mayor of Iliff told CBS4 that FEMA and the State of Colorado are working to find a permanent solution. Those possibilities will be considered next month.

In the meantime, Iliff is making sure the above ground system will work through the winter months.
