Pedestrian Killed By Car While Lying In Drive-Thru Entrance

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - One man is dead after an accident with a vehicle in a restaurant's parking lot Sunday night.

Aurora police responded to the Taco Mex Restaurant on East Colfax Avenue at Joliet Street at 9:40 p.m. A witness who was sitting in the drive-thru lane of Taco Mex described a 50-year-old Hispanic man walking westbound along Colfax who appeared to be very intoxicated.

He reached the corner of the two streets and fell down in the grass, but the sprinklers were on so the man got back up and stumbled into the Taco Mex parking lot where he collapsed again onto his back. He laid there for a short time until a maroon Cadillac Escalade coming northbound on Joliet Street made a right turn into Taco Mex, and drove over the man.

The 29-year-old female driver cooperated with police, who said she showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment. She also consented to a blood draw.

Aurora police are investigating the crash. No identities have been released, and no charges have been issued.
