Payroll Company Announces Denver Expansion

DENVER (AP/CBS4) — A San Francisco-based payroll company says it's expanding to Denver to hire 100 new employees immediately and 1,000 more in a few years.

ZenPayroll co-founder Josh Reeves and Gov. John Hickenlooper made the announcement Tuesday morning.

"ZenPayroll is a partner with entrepreneurs, will be an additive component of the startups in Denver and Colorado and I think they will be able to simplify what is in some cases a complex system getting a business open and hopefully accelerate and magnify the number of startups in Colorado," said Hickenlooper.

Colorado is offering ZenPayroll $17.5 million in tax credits over eight years for jobs that are created. Hickenlooper says that amounts to between $1,200 to $1,400 for each employee the company hires and that the credits only occur if ZenPayroll creates jobs.

ZenPayroll launched in 2012 as a company that processes payroll operations and now has thousands of companies as customers nationally.

Denver will be ZenPayroll's second location. It will serve as the company's customer service hub.
