Kids Learn How To Fish With Police Officers At 'Cops & Bobbers' Event

PARKER, Colo. (CBS4) - Parker police officers spent their Saturday teaching more than 160 kids how to fish.

They held their Cops and Bobbers event at a pond at Lincoln Avenue and Havana Street. Cabela's donated all of the equipment and had staff there to help.

Kids learned how to cast a line and got to keep all the fishing gear they used.

"It's a good positive way to interact with the kids. I grew up fishing at a very young age. It kept me out of trouble, got me outside, got me doing things that I still do to this day," a Parker police officer said. "So it's a good public interaction with police officers and kids and something they can do for the rest of the summer and years on."

Each kid was allowed to take home two fish they caught.
