Park County Retracts Resignation Story

BAILEY, Colo. (CBS4)- Park County Administrator Tom Eisenman says county officials- including Sheriff Fred Wegener- who reported the resignation of Undersheriff Monte Gore had "erroneous information," and Eisenman said the undersheriff has not stepped down.
"There's no letter of resignation from Monte Gore as of March 22, 2016," said Eisenman.
He said the undersheriff remains on paid administrative leave, as he has been since February 29.
Earlier Tuesday, Park County Sheriff business manager Sarah Kimsey told CBS4 Gore "Doesn't work here anymore" and that his last day with the sheriff's office was March 17.
Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener amplified on those statements saying Gore had resigned and it "was something he chose to do. His attorney and the county attorney are coming to terms on a severance package."
But later on Tuesday, Eisenman was adamant that there had been no resignation from Gore and said there "may be some erroneous information."
Eisenman said he was meeting with Wegener at 1 p.m. Tuesday to address the misinformation that had been disseminated to multiple media outlets.
Gore did not respond to inquiries from CBS4.
He was placed on leave following the death of Park County Cpl. Nate Carrigan, who was killed in the line of duty while serving an eviction notice. At the time, Wegener said Gore and another deputy "were disciplined for incidents surrounding the aftermath of the shooting."
