Park County Plans Undersheriff Resignation Thursday

By Brian Maass

FAIRPLAY, Colo. (CBS4)- CBS4 has learned that Park County is planning to announce the resignation of Undersheriff Monte Gore Thursday pending approval from Park County commissioners.

Gore has been on paid administrative leave since February 29. Gore was placed on leave following the death of Park County Sheriff's Corporal Nate Carrigan who was killed in the line of duty while serving an eviction notice. At the time, Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener said Gore and another deputy "were disciplined for incidents surrounding the aftermath of the shooting."

Last month, the Park County sheriff prematurely announced Gore's resignation.

Park County administrator Tom Eisenman told CBS4 Wednesday morning that the county is planning to release a separation agreement for Gore on Thursday, along with a letter from the sheriff and a news release.

Eisenman called the separation agreement "an extraordinary agreement" but declined to elaborate. Park County commissioners will meet at 9:30 a.m. although their agenda does not make mention of the Gore resignation agreement.
