Parents Growing Pot Charged After 3-Year-Old Tests Positive For THC

DENVER (CBS4)- The parents of a 3-year-old who were growing pot have been charged after their toddler tested positive for THC.

Mario Hollerway has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of six to 12 ounces of marijuana and child abuse.

Alysia Lombard has been charged with possession of six to 12 ounces of marijuana and child abuse.

On Nov. 13 the couple's 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed at a hospital with marijuana ingestion.

According to court documents, Hollerway said her daughter, "was laying on the couch and not acting normal."

She was rushed to Rose Medical Center where she "threw up at the hospital" and "tested positive for marijuana."

Further investigation by police revealed an illegal amount of marijuana and suspected crack cocaine in the family home.

Lombard told police she "makes her own edibles" but said "weed is not even accessible to her."

Hollerway, 33, has been released from custody on $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Dec. 26 at 1:30 p.m. to be formally advised of the charges.

Lombard, 28, is being charged by summons and will be scheduled to appear in Denver County Court at a later date.

It is still unclear how the child ingested the marijuana. At the time of the incident she was placed with other family members by the Department of Human Services.
