Paige Birgfeld's Daughter Opens Testimony In Murder Trial

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — Prosecutors are presenting testimony against a man accused of killing a Grand Junction woman nearly a decade ago.

Paige Birgfeld's 17-year-old daughter took the stand Monday as prosecutors began making their case against Lester Jones. Jess Dixon was eight when her mother failed to come home from work in 2007. Her remains weren't found until 2012.

The single mother led a double life as an escort and prosecutors say Jones was a client. Dixon described her as a "soccer mom" who took her and her two brothers to school and games and who let them all sleep in her bed.

Jones' lawyers say there's no physical evidence connecting him to the killing and say one of the other men ruled out by investigators could have killed her.
