OSHA Fines Construction Company After Worker Gets Stuck In Trench

DENVER (CBS4) - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined a Colorado company for an incident over the summer where a worker was stuck in a trench for two hours.

The incident happened in July in Aurora on the 1400 block of South Oakland Street. The victim was part of a crew working on a sewer line when the trench caved in. The trench was 20 foot long, 12 feet deep and 4 feet wide.

Emergency crews brought fluids down to the man using an IV and delivered oxygen while he was stuck. He reportedly recovered fully after being taken to the hospital.

Colorado Pipe Services of Golden was hit with a $14,000 fine for the incident.

The company was also fined for several violations in 2007 which were all related to protecting workers from cave-ins.
