Officers Search For Bear In Backyards Of Centennial

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - Reports of a possible bear sighting in Centennial had officers searching the area Friday morning.

Police received multiple calls shortly after 6 a.m. from neighborhoods surrounding Clarkson Park, near East Dry Creek Road and South Clarkson Street.

This area is just west of where Arapahoe County had a confirmed bear sighting Thursday evening.

Officers converged just before 7 a.m. in a cul-de-sac and walked through several backyards of homes.

Arapahoe Sheriff's Office said the bear may not be an adult, as originally thought, and that a drone was being used to spot it.

At about 8:40 a.m. officers said the bear had been safely tranquilized, and the next step will be relocating it.
