October Chill Brings Near Record Cold

DENVER (CBS4) - Mother Nature brought a chill to the Front Range overnight with temperatures hovering around freezing early Friday morning.

Denver officially hit 32 degrees at the airport which was one degree shy of tying the record low set in 2009.

It was also the coldest morning in the Mile High City since May 14.

The normal low in Denver on October 3 is 41 degrees and the normal high is 71 degrees.

As of 3 p.m., temperatures were running up to 20 degrees below normal in some areas.

The chill will be short-lived with a stretch of mild and dry weather ahead.

Temperatures over the next five days are expected to be in the 70s by day and 40s at night, which is right about where they should be for
this time of year.
