Number Associated With CSP Leads To Phone-Sex Ad

DENVER (AP) - Parents looking for information about car-seat safety may get more than they bargained for when they call a number that had long been associated with the Colorado State Patrol. That number now apparently belongs to a phone sex company.

When parents call 1-877-LUV-TOTS, which had been used by the department and its partners for years, they reach a recording advertising "America's hottest talk line."

Sgt. Mike Baker says the number was used by the Patrol for years, but it was discontinued in January 2012 because it was malfunctioning. Sometime between then and now, it was apparently purchased by the phone sex company.

Baker says the number, unfortunately, still appears on some old documents that can still be readily found on the Internet. He adds that "clearly that's not the image or the resource that we stand for."
