Nuggets' Ty Lawson To Begin 30-Day Treatment Program

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson will enter a 30-day treatment program on Saturday after his latest arrest for a DUI.

A motions hearing for Lawson's case was delayed on Friday. It has been rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 20. He was seen in the hallway of Denver court with his lawyer, Harvey Steinberg.

Lawson was arrested in Los Angeles Tuesday and is scheduled to stand trial in a Denver DUI case next month.

After his January arrest in Denver, Lawson was ordered not to drink alcohol or violate laws as part of his bond. Prosecutors had asked a judge to require him to use a device, such as an ankle bracelet or a home breath tester, that monitors the body for alcohol.

Lawson will not be required to wear an ankle monitoring device, instead the judge ordered him to use a stationary device called "Smart Start" an ignition interlock device.

The treatment program is in Malibu, Calif. Lawson will presumably fly to California on Friday evening.

In January, Lawson reportedly drove 60 mph in a 35 mph zone and was pulled over. After that arrest, Lawson apologized to fans and said he would learn from his mistakes.
