Nuggets' Ty Lawson Arrested In Denver On Suspicion Of DUI

DENVER (CBS4) - Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was arrested on suspicion of DUI overnight.

Denver police say Lawson was pulled over in the 3400 block of Park Avenue West just before 1:30 a.m. allegedly for speeding.

Lawson was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and careless driving.

Records show Lawson, who makes about $11.5 million a year, had just attended a charity event.

During the arrest, Lawson allegedly told officers he had a previous DUI in Missouri.

Lawson, one of the Nuggets star players, was set to hit the court at the Pepsi Center Friday night against the Boston Celtics. It's unknown if Lawson will play with the team.

Lawson was released from jail on a $1,500 bond Friday morning. He's due in court next Tuesday.

The Nuggets shared a statement late Friday morning saying they are aware of the arrest.

"We have been made aware of an incident involving Ty Lawson early this morning. Per team policy and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time," Denver Nuggets General Manager and Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly wrote.
