Nuggets Center McGee Undergoes Surgery, Will Miss Rest Of Season

DENVER (CBS4) - The Nuggets announced on Thursday that center JaVale McGee will undergo surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.

Nuggets General Manager Tim Connelly told CBS4 on Monday that McGee was unsure early last fall after sustaining a stress fracture in his lower left leg if he would need surgery or not. He played in only five games at the start of the season before he got hurt.

The Nuggets said the operation took place in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Connelly said Thursday in a prepared statement that losing McGee for the season was "disappointing" but that the team is "happy that he can move forward in his recovery."

McGee has played for the Nuggets for three seasons. Last month the team announced that Danilo Gallinari would have a second ACL surgery and would also miss the rest of the season.
