Northglenn Man Sentenced For Possession Of Controlled Substance

DENVER (CBS4)- A man from Northglenn was sentenced on Monday after he pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance.

Richard Jackson was first charged on Sept. 27, 2014 and indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on Nov. 3, 2014 after a baggie of Oxycodone pills was found inside his residence.

According to court documents, Jackson, 30, was the subject of a drug investigation where investigators found evidence of methamphetamine, heroin, ammunition and magazines. FBI agents also found multiple cell phones and a Department of Corrections ID card in his residence.

Jackson also had Nazi insignia in his home and posted rules on a wall of his basement. Two of the rules were, "Violence is a must to secure our race" and "We do not cooperate with law enforcement."

"Defendant Jackson has shown a substantial disregard for the safety of others and a lack of respect for the law," said U.S. Attorney John Walsh in a statement. "Thanks to the work of the FBI, and the members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, this felon will spend time in federal prison for his crime."

"The sentence handed down represents the FBI's dedication to pursuing those intent on harming the citizens of our communities, whether through direct action or general criminal activity that threatens the safety of our neighborhoods" said FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Thomas Ravenelle in a statement. "The FBI will continue to work through our strong law enforcement partnerships to protect our communities from those engaged in these types of activities."

On Monday, Jackson was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison followed by one year on supervised release.
