Northern Colorado Beats Black Hills State 83-62

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Tevin Svihovec scored 17 points and had five assists to lead Northern Colorado to an 83-62 win over Division II Black Hills State Friday night.

Cameron Michael added 13, on 4-of-12 shooting, and Cody McDavis had 11 points and seven rebounds for Northern Colorado (1-0). The Bears converted just 4 of 14 3-pointers, but made 17 of 21 free throws.

The Bears trailed early, but used an 11-0 run to take an 18-16 lead and they led 44-35 at halftime.

Myles Henry scored 14 points for Black Hills State and grabbed seven rebounds. The Yellow Jackets hit nine 3-pointers.

Black Hills State scored the first basket of the second half to bring them within seven but wouldn't get any closer.

Svihovec went over 1,000 career points, the 20th player to do so in program history.
