Northbound lanes of I-25 reopen after wrong-way police pursuit, crash in Colorado

The northbound lanes of I-25 reopened Monday afternoon in Northern Colorado after a wrong-way police pursuit and crash, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. All lanes were closed between exit 245 and the Berthoud exit shortly after 1 p.m. and reopened around 3 p.m.

According to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, deputies tried to stop a vehicle for traffic violations about 12:30 p.m. in south Loveland. That's when deputies said the driver of the vehicle eluded them and began driving recklessly, driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-25, striking multiple vehicles.

One person who was involved in the crashes was injured and rushed to the hospital. Deputies confirmed they performed a PIT maneuver on the vehicle to disable it and took the driver into custody. The suspect had not been identified as of Monday afternoon.

Law enforcement from several jurisdictions was on scene in addition to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, including the Erie Police Department and the Loveland Police Department.
