No Water Forces Town Of Iliff To Put Portable Restrooms On Every Street

ILIFF, Colo. (CBS4) - People in the town of Iliff are dealing without having water to drink, bathe in or flush.

Iliff is a small town with a population of 250, near Sterling in Logan County. A water main break under the South Platte River has forced crews to turn off the water to the entire town while repairs are made.

Portable restrooms are being set up on every street.

Residents can get drinking water courtesy of the Red Cross and Logan County's Office of Emergency Management at the Town Center.

The mayor of Iliff has declared a state of emergency.

"That could get very expensive and we may need to be eligible for grant money or other types of funding that may be able to help us with that," said Julie Dunlap.

Engineers who installed the water system 30 years ago said it could be more than a week before even a temporary fix is made and a permanent fix could be months away.
