No Charges For Police Who Shot Man At Funeral Home

DENVER (AP) — Denver prosecutors say they will not file criminal charges against four police officers who fatally shot a man outside a funeral home last month.

District Attorney Mitch Morrissey said Friday the officers fired to defend themselves after 21-year-old Ryan Ronquillo tried to hit them with his car on July 2. Police say they were trying to arrest Ronquillo on outstanding warrants when he put his car in reverse and hit two officers in the parking lot of a funeral home where a service was taking place.

The fired, hitting Ronquillo four times. Morrissey says it is surprising no one else was injured.

He says Ronquillo's actions left the officers with little choice but to use deadly force.

Some of Ronquillo's relatives witnessed the shooting and felt police were not justified.
