Colorado Deputies Cleared Of Wrongdoing In Fatal Shooting

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — Colorado prosecutors have cleared five Douglas County police officers who were involved in a fatal shooting last November. Nicholas Ryan was shot and killed by deputies following a car chase, and two other suspects were taken into custody.

According to findings by prosecutors, the incident began around 3 a.m. on Nov. 27 when a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy saw a vehicle run a red light and attempted a traffic stop.

The driver didn't stop and during the resulting chase shots were fired at deputies from the fleeing car.

Once the car was disabled, its occupants did not immediately comply with orders to get out with their hands up. Several deputies fired their weapons, and Ryan, the driver, was killed and the other two suspects were soon taken into custody.
