New U.S. Patent Office Opens In Denver

DENVER (AP) - Denver's new patent office is up and running.

After operating in a temporary office since last year, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office opened its new permanent office Monday in the Byron White Federal Building downtown. It will now start recruiting more patent examiners.

It's one of four regional patent offices planned to reduce a backlog and hire patent review experts who aren't willing to move to the main office in Washington, D.C.

Detroit and now Denver have permanent patent offices. Dallas and Silicon Valley have temporary offices which are expected to move into permanent locations next year.
