New U.S. Patent Office Opens In Denver On Monday

DENVER (CBS4) - The newest U.S. Patent Office will open in Denver on Monday. The announcement on the new facility was made last summer.

Sen. Michael Bennet says new inventions are part of what makes this country great.

"If you invent something really cool that's new you can go and get a patent on that and make sure that your neighbor or your friend can't just steal that idea from you," Bennet said. "That's not the way it works in a lot of countries, but it is the way it works here and it's driven innovation in the United States of America in a lot of ways."

The office is expected to directly create hundreds of jobs and lead to $440 million in economic activity over the first 5 years.
