New Law Gives Budget Flexibility For Flood Repairs
DENVER (AP) - Gov. John Hickenlooper has signed a bill that gives Colorado counties impacted by last year's floods more budgeting flexibility to repair roads and bridges.
The Democratic governor signed a bill Wednesday that gives counties the power to use general fund dollars on road and bridge repairs when a disaster emergency has been declared.
Right now, counties are limited to using road and bridge funds for that purpose. Without the new law, counties are forbidden from transferring county general fund dollars to help with road and bridge repair.
The new law has taken effect with the governor's signature.
