Middle Fork Fire Grows To 3,522 Acres Near Steamboat Springs

ROUTT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A new wildfire is burning about 10 mile north of Steamboat Springs. It's quickly grew to over 3,522 acres on Monday.

The Middle Fork Fire is burning in the mount Zirkel Wilderness in the Routt National Forest. It's located at Lake Luna near the Continental Divide Trail.

Fire officials say there are three helicopters fighting it now, but there are currently no boots on the ground. The fire is moving northeast, away from homes.

Firefighters are being met with cooler temperatures and windy conditions. Officials believe the fire was sparked by lightning.
