Deadly Crash Closes NB I-25, Several Vehicles Involved

WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Northbound lanes of Interstate 25 were closed on Wednesday night due to a deadly crash involving several vehicles.

Several vehicles were involved in the multiple vehicle crash about 7:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-25 near Highway 66 in Weld County.

The Colorado State Patrol said two people were killed. Investigators said a Jeep was traveling southbound when the driver apparently lost control and went into oncoming traffic.

That started a chain reaction where the driver of a van swerved to avoid the Jeep and the van crashed into a semi. The driver of the semi was not hurt.

There was a miles-long backup in the northbound lanes as traffic was diverted off I-25.
