National Running Day A Perfect Time To Start Training For The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2

DENVER (CBS4) - Two-time Olympic runner Alan Culpepper stopped by CBS4 studios to talk about the upcoming National Running Day and this fall's Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2.

Culpeper said National Running Day, on Wednesday, is a way to celebrate the activity of running.

"Whether that's for just getting out and being healthy and just getting your body moving, or for clarity of mind, which is usually my pace, or for a significant goal," he said. "If you're working towards a half for full marathon and really something to push yourself, it's to celebrate that on one day of the year."

Culpepper said getting involved is as simple as going for a run.

"It can be your own thing. Just get out and make the commitment to do it on that day. There are a lot of runs going on throughout the city. Check with your local running shop. Any local running shop will be doing something to really celebrate this day and have a little group run."

He said National Running Day is also a good day to start training for the Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 on Oct 18.

"If you're going to run a half or full marathon now is the time to really commit to that."

Culpepper said those who want to sign up for the marathon will get $20 off on National Running Day.
