Tuesday Is A Free Day At National Parks In Colorado

BLACK CANYON OF THE GUNNISON NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - To celebrate the 99th birthday of the country's National Park Service this week, entrance into all national parks in Colorado and across the country and is free on Tuesday.

In addition to a series of national historic sites, recreation areas, trails, heritage areas and national monuments, there are four national parks in Colorado: Rocky Mountain National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve and Mesa Verde National Park.

Mesa Verde Superintendent Cliff Spencer said in a statement that the conditions are fine for a visit there on Tuesday.

"We invite you to visit Mesa Verde to celebrate the National Park Service's 99th birthday," Spencer said. "It'll be a great day to bring your bike and ride the Wetherill Mesa Loop, take a hike, or tour one of the cliff dwellings. We look forward to seeing you here."
