Pinwheels Planted At Capitol For Child Abuse Prevention Month

DENVER (CBS4) - Gov. John Hickenlooper kicked off National Child Abuse Prevention Month at the state capitol building on Friday.

Dozens of blue pinwheels are now planted on the west steps of the building for the month.

Officials also unveiled an art installation called a Hero Mirror. There, people are encouraged to see themselves as heroes who can help stop child abuse.

"It is our responsibility every single person in Colorado to do everything we can to protect our children. They are the single most important resource the state has," Hickenlooper said.

Blue is the official color of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The CBS4 Morning News team wore blue Friday morning to note the first day of the month.
