National Adoption Day In Denver Finalizes Forever Families
DENVER (CBS4)- Dozens of children were officially united with their forever families as part of National Adoption Day in Denver on Friday.
The event at the Lindsey Flannigan Courthouse in downtown Denver officially joined 46 children ages one to 14 with families.
It's a moment of celebration for both parents and children who have often been undertaking a long adoption process.
For dads George Demitroe and James Shawulen, adopting 2-year-old Oliver began with love at first sight.
"We met him instantly and we fell in love with him," said Shawulen. "It's a happy day. We wanted this day for a long time. It's finally here."
"It's important of the two of us to have that recognition but also to our child," said Demitroe.

CBS4's Ed Greene emceed the event.
National Adoption Day is an effort to raise awareness about the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families.
