Multiple Potholes Cause Damage To Couple Dozen Vehicles In Boulder
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - A number of potholes cause a massive problem on Highway 36 near Boulder on Monday.
At least 30 vehicles suffered flat tires or other damage after the potholes opened on the highway near the Foothills Parkway exit. Some cars were loaded onto flatbed trucks.
The Colorado State Patrol said the rapid warm-up on Monday caused the road damage.
Crews were on site late Monday trying to fix the holes.
Erik Craig, a Lakewood resident, said he got two flats when driving through the area.
"There was a giant pothole and we hit it really hard and we went flying and I thought for a second maybe the alignment was out on the wheels but we looked forward and there was about 18-20 cars in ahead of us with a cop car, and it looked like they all had flat tires," he said.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, anyone who suffered damage from the potholes is asked to call Ames Construction -- CDOT's contractor -- at 303-363-1000.
