2 Injured In Home Invasion Stabbing, Police Search For Suspects

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Two people were injured and several suspects on the loose after a home invasion attempt in Golden ended with stabbings.

At approximately 9 p.m. Monday, a married couple at a residence on Washington Avenue and 19th Street heard a knock on their door. The husband opened the door, which is when three men forced their way into the home.

The resident got into a fight with one of the suspects and both suffered stab wounds. They were taken to the hospital, the husband in critical condition and requiring immediate surgery.

Two knives were recovered at the scene, one brought in by the suspects and the other possibly already in the home.

The other two suspects had fled, and police established a large search perimeter, extending from one end of the Colorado School of Mines to the Golden High School. K9 units were brought in and investigators collected evidence.

One neighbor said it's shocking to hear all of this happening on his street.

"This neighborhood is actually pretty safe. Nothing of this caliber has ever happened," said Daniel Zarrini.

The suspects are described as two thin white males, wearing dark clothing and possibly with bandannas over their faces. Police also say a woman may be a third suspect, who might have helped the two get away.

Anyone with information is asked to call Golden police.
