Mountain West Conference Suspends Players Involved In Air Force-CSU Fight

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The Mountain West Conference has suspended two basketball players involved in a scrum in the CSU-Air Force game Saturday night.

Air Force freshman guard Matt Mooney and CSU Rams senior forward J.J. Avila were both issued one-game suspensions Sunday.

Mooney punched Avila in the back after Avila grabbed an Air Force player around the neck after falling to the floor during their game.

Mooney will miss Air Force's game at New Mexico on Wednesday and Avila will miss CSU's game at home against Nevada.

Rams coach Larry Eustachy said: "We accept and respect the Mountain West decision. This unfortunate event does not reflect the true value we place on sportsmanship. I feel both teams regret the incident."
