Mount Evans Road To Remain Closed Through The Holiday Weekend

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The popular summer destination of Mount Evans won't be accessible by car until at least Tuesday.

"Due to drifting snow and persistent ice, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will require additional time to clear and open Mount Evans Highway to the summit of Mount Evans," Emily Wilfong with CDOT said in a statement.

Mount Evans Highway is the highest paved road in the nation. It starts at Echo Lake and ascends to Summit Lake, then continues on to the summit of the 14,264 foot mountain.
