Motorcyclist Arrested, Shots Fired During Alleged Road Rage

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- An apparent road rage incident ended in a shooting near Manitou Springs.

Police said the incident started Sunday morning on Highway 24 near Cave of the Winds when the driver of an SUV said a motorcyclist cut him off and then got behind him. That's when the motorcyclist allegedly fired two shots.

Bullets struck the SUV in the back and just below the driver's side window.

The SUV driver said he swerved to avoid more bullets and knocked the man off the motorcycle.

Police arrested the motorcyclist, identified as James Barrett. Barrett, 34, is a soldier stationed at Fort Carson.

He faces six charges, including attempted second-degree murder and reckless endangerment. He's being held on a $25,000 bond.
