Mother Formally Charged After Young Boys Found Hiding Inside Burning Home

DENVER (CBS4) - A 30-year-old Denver mother has formally been charged with felony child abuse after a fire last month that injured two of her children in September.

Police say Rocio Arroyo-Reyes left her two young boys, ages 3 and 5, home alone on the day the fire broke out. She's been charged with two counts of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

Firefighters wound up rescuing the children after arriving at the triplex on the morning of Sept. 29 and finding it in flames. The home is located on the 350 block of South Eliot Street.

Arroyo-Reyes was released from custody on a $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear court on November 10 to be formally advised of the charges.
