Montrose Teen Missing Since Saturday Found Safe; Police Investigating As Possible Kidnapping

MONTROSE, Colo. (CBS4) -- A 17-year-old girl missing from Montrose has been found safe, police said Monday. Now, police are investigating whether she was kidnapped.

"Montrose Police Department received information earlier this morning that a 17 year old juvenile female was missing and taken against her will," investigators said.

"We immediately acted and brought in our local, state, and federal partners, namely the FBI, Colorado Bureau of Investigations, and the Colorado State Patrol," the MPD stated.

Police say she was found near Limon, through a joint investigation with the Limon Police Department.

"The investigation into her alleged abduction is ongoing, however, at this time we can say she is safe and unharmed," the MPD stated.

Investigators said the teen "is currently in law enforcement custody."

The MPD thanked the Limon Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, CBI, and the FBI, and all the other agencies that helped locate her.

"Finally, an additional thank you to the public who shared this information over 1,100 times on social media, helping us locate her," Montrose Police Chief Blaine Hall said.

"As you can imagine when your child goes missing under these circumstances, this can be a harrowing experience for everyone involved especially the victim's family," Chief Hall stated. "We are so thankful she is safe and will work to get her reunited with her parents as soon as possible."
