Monday Is Deadline To Register For Colorado Caucuses

DENVER (AP) — Monday is the deadline for Coloradans interested in participating in a caucus to register as a member of a political party.

Colorado law requires that voters be registered as a Republican or Democrat for two months before the caucuses, which will be held on March 1 for both parties this year.

They can do that online at GoVoteColorado.com or visiting their county clerk.

GOP caucus-goers won't be voting on presidential candidates, however. The state party decided in August to cancel the traditional presidential preference poll after the national party changed its rules to make the caucus vote binding.

The caucus will still play an important role in choosing local, state and congressional candidates and are sometimes used by parties to recruit candidates.
