MLK Jr. Blvd. Reopens After Water Main Break

DENVER (CBS4)- Repairs to a water main break on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Denver were completed overnight along with repairs to the road which allowed all westbound lanes to reopen.

The break of the 12-inch diameter cast-iron main happened about 2:30 p.m. Friday. While Denver Water crews made repairs all customers kept their water service.

Denver Water believes the source of the break is likely contributing factors including the age of the pipe that was installed in 1953, pipe material, corrosiveness of the soil, water flow and temperature.

Westbound lanes of MLK were closed between Ivy and Kearney during repairs to the water main and cleanup.

Denver Water tweeted out an update on the water main break.

The road reopened about 1 p.m. Saturday after repairs to the road were made.
