Allen's family posted an update on a Facebook page dedicated to finding him. They thanked the Boulder Police Department and countless volunteers in the community who helped search for him.

"His roommates reported to us early this morning that Tyler returned to his apartment on his own after seeing one of the posters, completely unaware of the search efforts," the family said on Facebook. "He is currently in the hospital in Boulder and recuperating well."

The family didn't say why he's been hospitalized. Exactly what happened to Allen remains a mystery.
