Mile High United Way In Super Bowl Showdown

DENVER (CBS4)  Mile High United Way is calling on Bronco fans to help it win a Super Bowl showdown. Mile High United Way and United Way of Central Carolinas is going head-to-head in a fundraising challenge. All the money raised will buy books for local schools.

"This friendly Super Bowl wager is a great way to support the Broncos and showcase a real community need – putting books in the hands of young readers who might not have them otherwise," said Christine Benero, President and CEO of Mile High United Way.

In addition to the fundraising challenge, the presidents of the United Way organizations have made a side bet. Whichever team wins Super Bowl 50, that organization will be deemed the winner with bragging rights. The losing team's organization will be required to wear the colors of the winning team as they deliver the books to the schools. The results will be well documented on social media.

"In this game, no matter the outcome, the children of Colorado will be winners. But we wouldn't mind bringing home a Super Bowl championship, too," Benero said.
