Metro State Rallies As Men's Basketball Heads To Elite Eight

DENVER (CBS4)- Students and faculty gathered to show their support for Metro State's men's basketball team as they head to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.

There's a lot to be proud of. The Roadrunners have won 28 consecutive games. They're preparing to take on Tuskegee on Wednesday, March 26.

Thursday's rally featured the MSU pep band and the cheerleaders. There was free pizza and drinks for students. The Roadrunner mascot was also on hand, leading the crowd in enthusiastic cheers.

"We have a 28-game winning streak going on. We have Brandon Jefferson who was named Conference and Region Player of the Year," said MSU President Dr. Stephen Jordan.

"We've been ranked number one in the country for eight weeks, including the last seven weeks in a row."

Fans could also meet the team. They take off for Evansville, Ind. on Sunday. It's there third consecutive trip to the Elite Eight for the team.
