Mental Evaluation Ordered For Girl Accused Of School Plot

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) - A judge has ordered a mental evaluation for one of two 16-year-old girls arrested on suspicion of plotting to harm students and staff at their Highlands Ranch high school.

District attorney's spokeswoman Michelle Yi says one of the girls appeared in court Thursday and was ordered held without bail.

Few details of the allegations have been released. Officials say the target was Mountain Vista High School.

Authorities arrested the girls after receiving a tip. Their names haven't been released and neither girl has been formally charged.

Yi says prosecutors haven't decided whether to treat them as adults or juveniles.

The girl who appeared in court Thursday was ordered to return for another hearing on Jan. 5. Yi said she couldn't comment on the other girl's case.
