Meningitis Confirmed At Mountain Vista High School

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Mountain Vista High School in Douglas County has confirmed two cases of students with viral meningitis.

The viral form of meningitis is less serious than the bacterial version, but can still be transferred. Symptoms include fever, severe headache, and a stiff neck.

Medical experts say avoid sharing food and other objects with a person who may have been exposed to the infection. Wash hands often with soap and water.

The virus has no specific treatment and most patients recover on their own.

Mountain Vista says both students are doing well and will stay home until symptom free.
