Memorial Service for Longmont's Maddy Grayless

LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — A public memorial service for Maddy Grayless, the 8-year-old Longmont girl who inspired a nationwide effort to do random acts of kindness, is being held Saturday.

Maddy died from bone cancer on Tuesday. Her dying wish to make a difference led to the creation of "Maddy's Mighty Minions," a Facebook group dedicated to doing good deeds in Maddy's name. As of Saturday, it had about 8,000 members.

The Maddy's Mighty Minions page, created by a family friend, asks people to perform good deeds in her honor and write about what they have done.
