Maroon Bells Sees Record Number Of Visitors

PITKIN COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A record number of visitors enjoyed the Maroon Bells scenic area this summer.

The U.S. Forest Service estimates more than 320,000 people toured the iconic spot.

That's a 12% increase from last year.

Just last month, the Forest Service announced it will require reservations for overnight camping.

It has no plans to cap day visits to Maroon Lake.
